What you need to come in France

In order to come in France, foreign students must go to the French consulate in their country to query a long stay visa. However the students from the following countries don't need to do so : Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, countries of European Union. Once you are in France the student could have the file to fill in order to have the residence, which is compulsory for foreign students staying temporarily as a student in French territory In order to have the multiple documents, translated in French, which will be required, you will find here the list of documents to join to the file :

  • Civil status or birth certificate (Official document presenting your first name, name, date of birth, birthplace and your parents' identity)
  • Proof of resources of 430€ per month (it is either a certificate of award or a letter from parents saying that that amount will be given to the concerned student every month)
  • A certificate of coverage for the academic year : health insurance (foreign or domestic),European health insurance card for citizens of European Union countries, SE 401 document for Quebec students(see section health and insurance below)
  • proof of residence (rental contract, …)
  • 6 ID photos
  • 6.55€ fee (except for students from the European Union and Algeria)

Every foreign student, except for student form European Economic Area, will be required to undergo a compulsory medical examination conducted by the International Migration Office.

Arrival on the site

The host of foreign students is provided by the international relation department : Building A - Bureau n° 100 – from 8h30 to 12h and from 13h30 to 17h The arrival date to Toulouse must be confirmed by fax or phone, at least one week before. During the week-end, the school's administration services and the CROUS are closed so it would be better not arrive Saturday or Sunday. The student association could eventually take care of your hosting and your moving to the center of the town if you are in particular trouble. A hosting day is organized during September at school in order to meet people and to discover Toulouse. If students have expressed the wish to be housed in dormitories, the secretariat of International Relations will issue a card giving access to accommodation Housing Service CROUS (subject to availability). At their arrival, students must meet the head of international relations department.
The educational content of the stay of exchange is agreed with the training department in which the student will follow the majority of his lessons. Administrative registration is done with the Education Department. Cost of living

Housing

The campus rent varies from 120 to 200 Euros For a location at a particular, it takes 230 to 550 euros (plus a deposit) for a studio or apartment. In all cases, there should be an sufficient amount to pay the rent for the months of October and that the bond, amount corresponding to one or two months of rent which will be given back at the end of the rent, after deducting any costs of damage. Finally, for any location, insurance “civil responsibility”, contracted with an insurance agency for students will be required.
Students can take their meals in restaurants. It is offered at a price of 2.85 Euros. Lots of small restaurants in the town offers low cost meals.

Transports

The subway/bus ticket cost : 1,30 Euro For 10 tickets : 10,30 Euros A “key card” cost 4 Euros (needs also : 2 ID photos) and gives reduced costs.

Accommodation

If there is enough rooms with ENSEEIHT services and CROUS services, the foreign students will have a university room. The rent is around 120€ per month and a bond of 120€ which must be paid in cash. Moreover, the students association have a file of available apartment in the town. And students who stays more than 6 month in France can have the ALS (Aide au Logement Social) which is a financial help for housing.

Medical services

The school, given its place in the town, is attached to the preventive medical center of Arsenal(social sciences university) - Place Anatole France - 31000 Toulouse - Every ENSEEIHT's student can have free general medical care consults, specialized consults, social aid. Free consults take place from Monday to Friday from 8h30 to 16h30 : Medical Service : 05 61 63 37 49 Social Service : 05 61 63 37 25 2- Students with special needs.
